TSSPRO SEALANT PRODUCTS FOR PAVERS

PAVERS: A paver is a brick or brick-like piece of concrete. It is commonly used as exterior flooring for patios, driveways, sidewalks and commercial walkways. In a factory, pavers are made by pouring a mixture of concrete, aggregate and a coloring agent into a mold, it is then heated or put under pressure and allowed to set. Pavers have great curb appeal, add to home value and have many design options.  Unfortunately, pavers are prone to efflorescence, a whitish haze that often appears on the surface of pavers within a few weeks or months of installation. Efflorescence is a completely natural occurrence and can be avoided by applying a TSSPro sealant.  In addition, sealing pavers enhances and brings out the colors and prevents staining especially on driveways and cooking areas.

Considerations for choosing a sealer: The following are all factors for selecting a sealer.  The sealer descriptions below will mention which attributes they have to help in your selection; color enhancing/color change, adding a wet look, minimizing cooking area stains, salt-water erosion resistance, efflorescence resistance, preventing oil (cooking/motor) stains, preventing discoloring mold/algae, preventing deterioration/flaking, adding slip resistance, VOC compliance, moisture content of the substrate, general stain resistance and general protection.

Coverage, Number of Coats:   Pavers are porous; one to two saturation coats may be necessary depending on whether a penetrating or film forming sealer is used.  Testing first is always recommended.  Coverage will vary with the sealer selected but will be about 200 sq ft / gallon.  If a second coat is used il generally will get greater coverage.

All of the sealers listed below can be used.

  • TSS100WB-Natural Stone Seal, water based, penetrating; repels water, prevents efflorescence, strong beading, natural look, may slightly darken, good general protection; TSSPRO 300 and 400 can be applied over TSS100WB.
  • TSS400-Wetlook High Gloss, solvent based, film forming and silicone penetrator, high performance, high solids, darkens – enhances, gloss, wet look, repels water, oil, wine, etc.  Can go over TSS100WB (to prevent efflorescence).
  • TSS250–NEW-SteelcretePro, water based, both surface film and penetrating sealer, can be applied to high moisture content substrate, repels water and many stains, densifies/strengthens, prevents efflorescence, slightly darkens, natural matte finish, leaves non-stick surface that easily cleans with wind or water.
  • TSS300-Wetlook Low Sheen, solvent based, surface film and silicone penetrator; repels water, oil, wine, darkens, enhances colors, wet look, low sheen.  Can go over TSS100WB (to prevent efflorescence).
  • TSS360-Wetlook Gloss to Low Sheen, water based, surface film with penetrating silicone; repels water, oil, wine, most stains, medium darkening, enhances colors, low to medium wet look, gloss to low sheen depending on the number of coats.
  • TSS500- Enhancer, water based, matte finish, penetrating; repels water, strong beading, prevents efflorescence, enhancing wet look – moderate darkening.
  • TSS600-Stabilizer, water based, penetrating; repels water, strong beading, strengthens substrates, prevents efflorescence, slight darkening, slight to no enhancement, natural look.

You may also want to consider;

  • TSS650-Densifier, solvent based, penetrating, repels water, consolidates and densifies, prevents deterioration, resists efflorescence, strong beading, slight darkening.
  • TSS700-ClearSurface, solvent based, penetrating; repels water, prevents black algae (the most common), up to seven-year effectiveness, slight darkening.
  • TSS750-Algae Cure, water based, surface film; repels water, prevents most forms/colors of algae (green, black etc.), up to 2–3-year effectiveness.
  • TSSG100-Anti Slip Grip, textured, polypropylene particles added to film forming sealants (TSS300 & 400) that reduce slippage especially when surfaces are wet.

For Cleaning

  • TSS010-Cleaner, water based, concentrate, formulated for cleaning limestone, concrete, grout haze and efflorescence, removes most any stain or discoloration .
  • TSS015 Neutralizer; use after TSS010 to neutralize the surface prior to sealing.
